PSG set to sign Manchester United and Barcelona target Alderweireld this summer
- PSG have joined the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld when the ongoing season wraps up
- The 29-year-old has just one more season into his contract with the Lilywhites
- Chelsea are also said to have shown interests in securing the Belgian's signature this summer
Paris Saint Germain are reportedly planning to sign Manchester United and Barcelona target Toby Alderweireld at the end this season.
The 29-year-old, who joined the Lilywhites from Atletico Madrid in 2015, has struggled for playing time this season – making just 10 appearances from 30 league games so far.
With his contract set to expire in the summer of 2019, the Parisians are hoping to take advantage of the Belgian’s current situation to lure him away from the club this summer.
Alderweireld is unsure of his future at the Wembley Stadium outfit, as the club is yet to trigger the one year contract extension, which is expected to see him remain with Spurs until 2020.
Meanwhile, the deal also include a £25 million release clause that could be activated in the summer of 2019, as long as a transfer was completed at least 14 days before the closure of the window.
According to the Telegraph, Spurs will listen to offers in the range of £40m for 29-year-old this summer, and PSG, along with other European clubs might be willing to cash to boost their defence line ahead of next season.
Spanish League outfit, Barca and United have been monitoring the situation with the player and his squad, especially after Manchester City showed their interest in the Belgium international to sign Aymeric Laporte during the winter transfer window.

Chelsea are also said to be interested in securing the Alderweireld’s signature, but the French League side are the only team that could compete favourably with United and Barcelona.
PSG are set to chamge their coach this summer due to their early ouster from the Champions League competition, and are ready to back the new man with a healthy transfer budget to improve the squad.
Meanwhile, the French club has identified the center of defence as one of their major weakness, thereby plotting to land the Spurs man.
The Ligue 1 outfit will be hoping to bank on their recent relationship with the north London club to gain advantage over other suitors for the player, having sold Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura to the EPL club in the past two transfer windows.
Tottenham would rather sell the player to a club in a different league while Barcelona will have to show how interested they are in signing the player with the offer they present.
Alderweireld suffered a thigh muscle strain in one of his side’s encounter in February and is expected to return to action for the club on March 16.
Aside for this season that he has had just 10 league appearances this season; he has enjoyed a reasonable amount of playing time in his previous seasons at the club.
