- City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has taken a swipe at Machakos County Governor , Alfred Mutua for taking credits on the repairing of Athi River bridge.
- According to the governor, it is his engineers who undertook the responsibility of fixing the bridge after floods washed away a section of it
- Kenya Highways Authority however came out claiming it was them who did the fixing and not the governors engineers as he had claimed
City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir on Saturday, March, 17 condemned Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua for crediting himself for fixing Athi River Bridge after it collapsed due to flooding.
Kipkorir accused the vibrant governor of falsely claiming his engineers fixed the bridge until the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) came out to confirm it was them who fixed the bridge.

"When Athi River Bridge collapsed, Gov. Alfred Mutua went full blast on all his Social Media Channels claiming his Engineers are fixing the Bridge till KeNHA said it’s not true " said Kipkorir

"KeNHA fixed it .Have said many times that Mutua is a charlatan .He has no regard for the Truth." he added.
Kipkorir's arguments came after the Machakos governor issued a warning on his social media page on the closure of Mombasa road after floods washed away a section of the bridge.
"Alert: The Joska - Kamulu bridge has just been washed off by the River Athi, cutting off Kangundo road. Those trying to use the road for Nairobi or Machakos should turn back. Our engineers on Mombasa road are busy repairing the Mto ya Mawe bridge so that we can open the road." wrote Mutua.
According to him, it was his engineers who were in the process of fixing the bridge and not KeNHA.
UPDATE: Mombasa road is now open after the repair of the bridge. Kangundo road is also now open for traffic.
The Machakos Emergency team has worked overnight to save lives and no one is stranded. We are sad after retrieving three male bodies on the Kamulu bridge on Kangundo road.
